Paul Thornton Sr.

Paul F. Thornton Sr., 85, of Wooster, died Monday, May 23, 2022, at Doylestown Health Care Center.

Private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Seville, where military rites will be held. Paul was born September 13, 1936, in Akron, Ohio to Paul and Ella {Thompson} Thornton.

Paul proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years.

He married Carolyn Rusk on May 18, 1957, she died April 17, 2017.

Paul retired from being a long-distance truck driver with PIE. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Paul enjoyed golf, watching Cleveland sports, and old Western movies. He was also a Teamster.

Paul will be deeply missed by his sons Paul Jr. (Jennifer) of Akron and Roger (Jackie) of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law Denise Thornton of Akron; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; sisters Linda and Janet.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, son Charles, and sister Joan.
