Paulyne Parker Briggs, 94, of Wooster, entered into rest peacefully during her sleep Thursday, September 25, 2014 in her home.
Friends may call Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Nathan Ward and Rev. Bob Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Paulyne was born April 18, 1920 in Morgantown, WV to George Edward and Marie {Williams} Oldaker.
She married Oakley D. Parker in 1936; they had 6 children together before his passing in 1956. Paulyne showed great faith and perseverance following Oakley's death. She worked as a janitor while attending school and raising her children so she could become a CPA. She later married Warren Briggs on June 3, 1961; he died December 6, 1990.
Paulyne was self-employed as a CPA for 60 years. She was an elder at Wayne Presbyterian Church where she was involved as a youth counselor and as an organist. She was also a member of the Wooster Church of the Nazarene. Paulyne was a past president and officer of the Women's Aglow group. She taught piano to many students for 60 years. She loved her flowers and gardening.
Paulyne will be deeply missed by her children Dr. Carol Ann Thompson of Muskegon, MI, Patricia Louise Parker of Mesa, AZ, Barbara Sue Parker- Davis of Indianapolis, IN, John Paul (Cynthia) Parker of Wooster, Norena Faith (James) Fox of Columbus, OH, James Deforest Parker of Nashville, TN, step-son Warren (Ruth) Briggs Jr. of Fort Worth, IN; 11 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; sister Kathleen Shamo of California.
Paulyne was preceded in death by her two husbands Oakley and Warren; brothers Paul and Jack, and sister Ruth.
