Phillip “Phil” Leroy Graves, 84, of Mount Vernon OH, passed away Thursday November 24 at Knox Community Hospital, in Mount Vernon.
Phil was born November 20, 1938, in Bradford IL to John Morgan and Pauline {Cochran} Graves.
Phil served in the Navy for several years. He was a long-haul truck driver, worked as a welder, and also owned his own businesses. Phil worked and played hard his whole life. He never met a stranger and enjoyed helping at the spur of the moment. A Free Mason, he enjoyed “sharing” chocolate with his great-grandchildren, his hats, cowboy boots, and coffee.
Phil will be deeply missed by his; children Jay (Joyce) Graves of Texas, Mark Graves of Mount Vernon, Phylis Rettig of Mount Vernon, Noel (Ron) Kauffman of Jelloway, Robert A. Phillip (Cindy) Graves of Ashland, Candy (Bill) Beltz of Howard, Sandy (Kevin) Alspach of Howard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother John Kenneth (Karen) Graves of Mount Vernon.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Isadora (Seery), Marlene (Moreau) and Barbara (Harding) Graves, his daughter Karen Ann Campbell, grandson Jordan Beltz, siblings Jack, Ron, Nadine, Ralph David and his stepmother Ocie Graves.
