Phyllis Metheney

Phyllis Marie Metheney, 91, of New Matamoras, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 24, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Phyllis was born April 22, 1928 in New Matamoras to James and Eva Wright.

She married Harry Metheney on January 27, 1948.

Phyllis worked at Green Gables Restaurant in Columbus as a car hop and later at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Newport until she retired. She was a member of Center Valley Baptist Church in New Matamoras. She enjoyed yard sales, embroidery, and cooking Sunday dinners for her children and their children.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by her children Judy (George) Hendricks, Donald Metheney (Dianne Longfellow), Karen (Gus) Brunoni, Gloria (Tim) Ritchie; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Shelda; and special friend Delmar Cameron.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, son Harry, grandsons Alfred George Hendricks and Jason Humphrey.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 26th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 PM at the funeral home with Pastor David Michaels officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
