Ralph was born June 1, 1935 in Wooster to Thomas and Emma {Bennett} Meyer. He attended St. Mary School and Wooster High School. He entered the Army in 1958 and was stationed stateside. In 1960, he was honorably discharged. He joked that he was in the service at the same time as Elvis Presley. For a few years he wore an Elvis Presley haircut. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Lynda L. Walton and they were married in 1964. They had two sons: Ty Thomas Meyer and Sy Thomas Meyer.
Ralph enjoyed dancing, bowling, talking, joking, and playing Euchre with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He also enjoyed gardening and especially liked mowing and being outdoors. His hobby was working and he enjoyed discussing politics and religion with anyone and everyone.
Ralph was employed at Crown Steel and retired after 35 years of service. Crown Steel had sent him to school to learn to operate the computer-operated laser. He worked with metal and learned how to make many things with steel. He even made steel wood-burning stoves for his family.
Ralph celebrated 30 years of sobriety with God's help and his friends at AA. At age 70, Ralph became a baptized member of Grace Brethren Church of Wooster. He loved telling everyone about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. A couple of years ago, Ralph lost his voice and could no longer speak, but he found a way to spread the Word of the Lord. He would raise his hands in praise to God and pat his heart. Ralph never complained and fought a brave and courageous war on his cancer. His journey through life was an inspiration to many.
Anyone who met Ralph will remember his joking, his love of life and his belief in the Lord.
Surviving are his loving wife Lynda, son Sy Thomas Meyer of the home; sisters Jeanne (John) Morris and Pat (Robert) Jenkins of Wooster; sisters-in-law Denna (Walton) Yockey, Donna (Walton) Fetzer, Patricia (Walton) Hoff, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ty Thomas Meyer, and brothers Bernard and Frances.
