Randall "Randy" M. Rhodes, 71, of Marysville formerly of Ashland and Bellefontaine, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at The Ohio State University James Medical Center.
Randy was born January 21, 1946 in Columbus to Maurice and Janice {Morris} Rhodes.
He attended Ashland College and graduate from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. Randy served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he received a bronze star medal for bravery.
He married Catherine {Myers} Laughlin on January 1, 1999.
Randy retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol after 30 years, where he was Trooper of the Year twice. He was a member of the American Legion in Ashland and the N.R.A. Randy enjoyed cooking, working outside in his yard and spending time with his furry friend, Gidget.
Randy will be deeply missed by his wife Catherine of 18 years; children Kelli (James) Hofmann and Kasey (Spencer) Davis both of Bellefontaine; step daughter Stacy (Ed) Riley of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Nicholas (Kristen) Rhodes of Tacoma, WA, Tanisha (Nate) Moss of Columbus, Blake Kenner II, Kailynn Kenner and Maddox Davis all three of Bellefontaine; great-granddaughter Kinsley Moss of Columbus; brother Richard (Glenda) Rhodes of Sugar Hill, GA; sister Margie Rhodes of London; nephews Randy (Christine) Rhodes of Grove City and Robert (Sandy) Rhodes of Suwanee, GA; nieces Rhonda (Mark) Colvin of London and Janice Rhodes of New Jersey.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald Rhodes.
Memorial services will be Monday at 6 p.m. at First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave, Bellefontaine, OH with Blake Kenner officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. A private burial will be held at Ashland County Memorial Park at a later date, where military rites will be held.
