Richard C. Armstrong, 86, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2014. He died at his residence following a period of declining health.
He was born in Wooster on January 5, 1928 to Raymond and Marjorie (Houmard) Armstrong. He was a 1945 graduate of Burbank High School. He was united in marriage to Annabel Hoover in 1949. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Dick was part of the family poultry business for many years. He later worked at Wooster Equity and Federal Land Bank. He retired in 1990. He lived on the home farm originally entered by his great-great-great-grandfather in 1813.
Dick enjoyed playing golf, and made a hole-in-one at the Pines in 2006. He and Annabel wintered in Arizona. They were members of Grace Church in Wooster where Dick had been the moderator for 7 years and was on the building committee where he served as a past chairman. They had attended Grace since the 1940's, serving with the family of God.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert (Roxanne) Armstrong of Wooster and his daughter, Janice (Kenneth) Wiles of Creston; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Betty (Lloyd) Ulrich and his sister-in-law, Gloria Armstrong, both of Wooster. His parents and brother, John, died previously.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grace Church with Pastor Bob Fetterhoff officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service; from 10-11 a.m. Family and friends may also call Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the church.
