Richard Crum

August 6, 1933 — February 6, 2016

Richard "Dick" E. Crum, 82, of Whipple, Ohio passed away at his home on February 6, 2016.
Richard grew up in Noble County, Ohio and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1951.
Richard served two years (1952-1955) during the Korean War in the US Army as a paratrooper Jump Master and made numerous night and day jumps. After serving in the Army, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Mae Noll of Fuda, Ohio.
He worked for Crock & Shaffer for 2 years before moving to Whipple, Ohio. Richard began employment with Union Carbide in 1957 and retired in 1995 as Human Resource Manager. Following retirement, he was hired as a consultant during union negotiations.
Richard was also a successful realtor in Marietta, working for the former Christy Realty. He had been a member of the American Legion Post #64 and also a member of The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Richard was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring cars and other antiques, participating in car shows, and friends.
Surviving Richard in his wife of 60 years, Donna; their 5 children Chris (Dustin) Johnson of NC, Tim (Kathy) Crum of VA, Mike Crum of Reno, Rick (Cheryl) Crum of Whipple, Kenny (Michelle) Crum of Whipple; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Schockling of Groveport, OH and Rosemary Crum of Pickerington, OH.
He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Crum and his grandson Alax Crum.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home – East Lawn Chapel, 27880 SR 7, Marietta 45750. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of St Mary of the Assumption at 10 a.m. on Wednesday with Msgr. John Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
