Richard "Dick" Eugene Hahn

Richard “Dick” Eugene Hahn, 88, of Wooster, died Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at his residence.

Dick was born April 1, 1934 in Smithville, Ohio to Titus and Doris {Kurtz} Hahn.

He graduated from Smithville High School in 1952.

He married Mary Jane Johnson on February 28, 1953. She survives. 

Dick owned and operated Hahn Drywall Contracting. He was a member of the First Church of God.

In 1976 Dick received the honor of being selected as the official scorebook keeper at the OHSAA State Basketball finals in Columbus. Dick was inducted in the Wayne County Sports HOF class of 1996 and Smithville Sports HOF class of 2012. He served on the Smithville Sports HOF Executive Committee from 2008 until 2022. Dick kept the scorebook for Smithville Boys Basketball games for 35 years and was the official scorebook keeper for OHSAA Boys and Girls Basketball tournament games held at Smithville H.S. He was a sponsor for all levels of youth sports in Smithville ranging from t-ball to Class D Hot Stove baseball. His Hahn-Frank Class D Baseball teams were legendary in Northeast Ohio for their numerous state championships. Their top-flight amateur baseball talent who wore the Green-White and Gold traditional uniforms for over 20 years.

Dick will be deeply missed by his wife; children Denny E. (Barbara) Hahn and Cheryl L. (John) Foster both of Wooster; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wilbur Hahn.

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Arnie Kaufman and Randy Moomaw officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
