Richard "Dick" Smail, 79, of Holmesville, died December 21, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Richard was born November 30, 1934 in Loudonville, Ohio to Enos and Fern {Gilbert} Smail.
Richard was in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborn 56-58.
He married Joan Lint on August 11, 1956.
Richard worked in maintenance at Frito-Lay for 42 years. He enjoyed stock car racing, pulling at tractor pulls, spending time with his family, going to auctions, and spending time with his cats Babe, Lady, and Big Boy, and his dog Duke.
Richard will be deeply missed by his wife; children Barbara Slemmer (Mike Brown) of Benton, Rose (Richard) Little of Benton, James (Karla) Smail of Carl Junction, MO, and Paul Smail of Fredricksburg.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; brothers Ronnie Smail of Ashland, Gary (Delores) Smail of Shelby, and Charles (Inez) of Loudonville; sisters Mary (Bill) Huntsberger of Nashville, and Carol "Cookie" (Ralph) Fortune of Nashville.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sharon Ancona, brother Robert Smail, and great-grandson Kaden Smail.
