Rickard H. Long, 75, of Medina, died Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Rick was born June 7, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to Richard C. and Doris I. {Henkes} Long.
Rick served in the United States Navy for 4 years, 3 years in an active combat zone during the Vietnam conflict.
Rick was a master carpenter for Long Construction, he was also creator and owner of Papa Bags. He was very generous donating his time and talents for charities, local food drives, habitat for humanity, and organized motorcycle drives to raise money for those charities. For many years he was a professional, real bearded Santa Clause during Christmas time, traveling to many malls. Rick was a H.O.G. chapter member and a loyal Browns, Indians, and Buckeye fan.
Rick will be deeply missed by his children Drew (Toni) of Strongsville and Melissa of Olmsted Falls; grandchildren Jimmy Hill, Deana (Jason) Haddad, Michael Hill; great-grandchildren Andrew, Anthony, Noah, Hannah, and Evan; brother Ken (Marilyn) of Strongsville; sister Patricia of Lakewood; and many nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 14th, 2021, promptly at 1:45 p.m. Please begin arriving to the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery for the procession at 1:35 p.m. A gathering will follow at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 696 Lafayette Rd.
