Rickey Lee McQuillen, 65, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 after a couragous fight with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife, Barb.
Rickey was born July 12, 1948 in Ashland, Ohio to Charles McQuillen and Mary {Thompson} Oxender.
Rick attended Ashland High School. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart.
He married Barb (Camp) on March 25, 1972.
Rick worked at Hyco for 20 years. He also worked for the City of Ashland Sanitation Dept. for over 20 years. Rick was a member of AMVETS Post 96 and VFW Post 1067 both in Ashland. He enjoyed his time spent with family, friends and his special Cocker Spaniel companion "Ozzie".
Rickey will be deeply missed by his wife, Barb of 41 years; children Heather Schaefer of Bailey Lakes and Chad McQuillen of Ashland, Dawn (Ron) Caudill of Mansfield; grandchildren Paige and Jade Schaefer, Dakota Procker, Collin Caudill; Mother Mary Oxender; sisters Beverly Clark and Marlene Schueller.
Rickey was preceded in death by his father, sisters Suzanne McQuillen, Nicki Gray and Janet Miller, brothers Mickey McQuillen and Robert Miller
Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
