Robert "Travis" Schmidt, 37, of Dalton, died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his residence.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
Travis was born May 8, 1979 in Massillon to Robert Leonard and Pamela Jo {Carpenter} Schmidt.
He completed courses at Ashland University for Basic Business and Hotel Restaurant Administration.
Travis was a chef at many restaurants and cooking was one of his passions. He was raised Catholic and Lutheran and attended different churches over the years. Travis enjoyed rapping and mixing music, as well as drawing and tattoos. He loved animals and was known to rescue dogs any chance he got. In his spare time, Travis would go target shooting and play video games with his dad, brothers and son. He had an abundant amount of love for his son, family and friends. Travis always had a smile on his face, music in his head and love for everyone in his heart.
Travis' proudest moment was the birth of his son Damian J. "DJ" Schmidt. He will be deeply missed by his son; mother Pam of Dalton; father Robert (Vicki) of Orrville; brothers James Schmidt, Matthew Pinkley and Justin Schmidt; sisters Mandy Schmidt, Julie Schmidt and Jessica Schmidt; paternal grandfather Ed Eberle; maternal grandfather Paul Carpenter; paternal uncles Dino (Annette) Eberle and Michael (Amanda) Eberle; paternal aunts Sandy Eberle and Missy (Randy) Tucker; maternal uncle Vincent Carpenter; mom two Pam Graham; and numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
Travis was preceded in death by his brother William Schmidt, paternal grandmother Doris Eberle, maternal grandmother Josey Carpenter, paternal aunt Paula Carter and maternal uncle Lorenzo "Jay" Carpenter.
