Roger Lee Leisure, 61 of Loudonville, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior July 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer in the home of his sister, Norma Yancer of Ashland.
Roger was born April 24th, 1952 in Ashland Ohio, the beloved son of Willard & Margaret Stone Leisure. He attended Mapleton High School. He was an independent logger before working for the Bud Company until it closed. He returned to the logging business which he loved. He became very knowledgeable and could price lumber by the board feet while the trees stood in the woods. He made many friends in the logging field including his good friend, John Yoder.
He was an avid fisherman who could out fish a professional any day and often found solace walking in the woods. To those whom he loved he would say "I love you like a blue gill", which was a high honor to those that knew and loved him, including family, friends and good fishing buddies. He was well known for his willingness to help others with his "fix it" abilities.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents and brother, Donald Leisure.
He is survived by his beloved sons: Roger Leisure (Danyel) of Zenia, Ohio, Jeremy J. Leisure of Zenia, Ohio, and Andrew R. Leisure of Mansfield, Ohio, four grandchildren Ethan, Isabel, Averie, and Owen of Zenia. Also one brother, Dennis Leisure (Dorthy ) of Plymouth, Ohio, and three sisters, Marilyn Phillips (Averal) of Williamstown, WV, Norma Yancer (Robert) of Ashland, and Phyllis Mekoleske of Adario, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 13, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel with Dr. Paul Tracey Sr. officiating.
