Roger A. Miller, 77, of Ashland, died Friday March 29, 2024 at Good Shepherd, in Ashland.
Roger was born August 27, 1946 in Sandusky, Ohio to Julius and Isabelle {Earl} Miller, where he was a lifelong resident before moving to Ashland a few years ago.
Roger served in the United States Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam War. He was in Phubai and Da Nang during his time in the Navy.
Roger was employed by the city of Sandusky street department for 30 years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Sandusky. Roger was well known for telling jokes. His favorite joke was he would ask a waitress if she took orders to go out, and when she said yes, he said what time should I come back to pick you up for our first date! Roger also collected and wore military uniforms and camo everywhere he went. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Bay View, Ohio.
Roger will be deeply missed by his nephew Patrick (Christine) Miller of Ashland; niece Kathy (Jim) Klostermeyer of Huron; and many great nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard and Michael Miller, as well as his nephew Michael Miller.
Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held.
