Ronald Dennis

Ronald Eugene Dennis, 79, of the Ferncliff community, died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Arbors of Marietta where he had been a resident since May 3, 2014. He had been in declining health for many years.
Ron was born June 29, 1935 in Marietta to Harry Edward "Ed" and Audrey Corrine {Shimp} Dennis. He was a 1953 graduate of Marietta High School where he was active in the football and track programs. He briefly attended Marietta College before entering the US Marine Corps in February 1954 where he served until February 1957. He was then employed at Pico Wholesale Company before returning to Marietta College in August 1957 where he attended until 1959.
Ron later was employed at Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W. Va., Shell Chemical Company in Belpre and American Sterilizer Company out of Erie, Pa. He then went to work at Forma Scientific, Inc. in Marietta in July 1967 and retired from there in July 1997. Ron served as Domestic & International Service Manager for 25 years. He was a member of the Thermo-Fisher (formally Forma Scientific) 25-year club and the Marietta American Legion Post 64.
He married Carol Mae Root on August 31, 1957 in Richmond, Indiana; they have had 57 years together. She survives with three sons and one daughter, Roberts Edward Dennis (Cheryl Lynn) of Reno, Michael Anthony Dennis of Cleveland, Barry Eugene Dennis of Ferncliff and his fiancée Karen Weihl and Mrs. Marsha Ann Marshall (Loren) of Penn Run, Pa. There are 14 grandchildren located in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Georgia, Maryland, Illinois, Florida and West Virginia.
Also surviving is his brother, Bruce Edward Dennis, Sr. (Barbara) of Reno and his sister-in-law Mrs. Patricia Dennis of Marietta along with several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Lisa Dennis Walsh (Mike) of Westin, Florida and their daughters Kyrie and Mallory, Stephanie Dennis of New York City and Brian Dennis of Barnesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Neil W. Dennis, infant sister Rosalie June Dennis, nephews Donald Eugene Dennis and Ricky Allen Dennis and three infant grandsons.
Ron was an avid football fan, especially loved Ohio State Football, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. He liked NASCAR and enjoyed track and field events.
Arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home of Reno. There will be no visitation or services and burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Box 5, Marietta, OH 45750 to help the animals that so much need help. Ron's beloved black Lab, Doobie Doo Dennis, preceded him in death and he leaves behind his little buddy, Joey.
