Ronald "Ron" Ray Simmons, 83, of Ashland, crossed into the wild blue yonder where the cowboys roam, Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Brethren Care Village.
Ron was born June 10, 1933 in Hayesville to Rady "Pete" O. and Ruth E. {Xander} Simmons.
He was a graduate of Hayesville School in 1951.
He married Marilyn Anne Mosser on April 5, 1953.
Ron worked at many jobs including HYCO and retired from Custom Hoists, Inc. in Hayesville. He loved to play golf and after retiring he traveled to and through many of the lower 48 states. To his many friends "Bob & Bill" 40 years as of April 15, 2017, "Hope I have helped some along the way."
Ron will be deeply missed by his wife Marilyn; children Karen (Rev. Mike) Namy, Mark (Brenda) Simmons, Dann (Annette) Simmons, Melody (Karen) Simmons, Greg Simmons and Kathy (Sergio) Ruiz; daughter-in-law Diane Simmons; grandchildren Melissa (Adam), Kevin (Laurie), Joe (Mandy), Adam (Jamie), Andy (Nikki), Iann, Jenny (Matt), Nick, Eric (Niki), Kyle (Becca), Cory (Jesse), Nicole (Sam), Nathan, Britney, Taylor and Audrey; great-grandchildren Jillian, Abbey, Hailey, Emma, Mason, Brooke, Remy, Alyssa, Jaylynn, Josie, Shyann, Joey, Jenna, Joanna, June, Sebastian, Reagan, Bella, Betta, Kallie, Devon, Jade, Mikayla, Isabella, Alice and Emma.
Ron was preceded in death by his son Matthew, brothers Melvin, Richard and George Simmons, sister Gwen Sands.
Ron will always be remembered for his mischievous grin, ornery nature, ability to make friends, his golf outings with Ron and friends, love of watching old western movies, and his pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
