Roy A. Grabill, 88, of Shreve, passed away after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Majora Lane Care Center, in Millersburg.
Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Pastor Kirk Fairhurst officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at Donate Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation P.O. Box 504, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741-5041.
Roy was born April 12, 1926 in Roaring Springs, PA to Roy and Pearl {Kaufman} Grabill.
He spent his formative years in Altoona, PA and moved to Ohio in 1954.
Roy proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.
He married Thelma {Westley} on March 11, 1950. She survives.
Roy worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and then Akron Brass. He attended several churches over his lifetime. Roy loved country music, playing the guitar and singing with friends as entertainment at nursing homes.
Roy will be deeply missed by his wife, Thelma, of 65 years; children Diane (Barry) Walkenshaw of Delaware, David and Dale Grabill of Wooster, Dawn Grabill of Cincinnati; grandchildren Angela Grabill, Jennifer Walkenshaw, Catherine (Nate) Wells, Christina King, Dylon Walker, Cheyanne Grabill; great-grandchildren Tesla Speegle; brother Robert (Shirley) Grabill of State College, PA.
Roy was preceded in death by his brothers Earl, Paul, Dan and sisters Tressa and Frances.
