Ruby A. Smith, 84, of Wooster, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Brookdale, in Wooster surrounded by her family.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 A.M. at the funeral home with Robert Moskowitz officiating. Ruby was born September 12, 1928 in Shreve, OH to Daniel and Miriam {Bechtel} Welty.
She married Russell Smith on February 17, 1990. He survives.
Ruby managed the Jewel Box from 1982-1995. She was the President and Vice president Business and Professional Women's Club. Ruby was the president of the Republican Women's Club. Ruby enjoyed traveling, dancing and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She graduated from Shreve High School in 1946.
Ruby will be deeply missed by her husband Russell, Children: Karen A. Payne of Fredericksburg, OH, and Bill D. (Carol) Van Zile of High Point, N.C. grandchildren: Melissa A. Westover, Joe (Jacie) Westover, Scott Van Zile and Kimberlee (Todd) Nelson, great-grandchildren Dylan and Kymberlie Boggs, Jacob and C. J. Westover and Alex Patterson, brother William (Linda) Welty of Conneaut and sisters Caroline (Doyle) Sidle and Charlotte (Jones) Alexander
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Daniel, Robert, James, and Charles.
