Russell E. Arwood, 86, of Shreve, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Russell was born February 19, 1931 in Wooster to Robert and Mae {McComas} Arwood.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Marilyn Wachtel on October 14, 1955. She passed away on February 10, 2006.
Russell retired from Columbia Gas Co. after 30 years. After retiring, he worked at the Village of Shreve with his son for 28 years. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians, going antiquing, spending time in Maine and attending a yearly Chili Fest at the Chapmans with family and friends.
Russell will be deeply missed by his sons Kim (Gay) Arwood of Shreve and Kent Arwood of Dalton, GA; grandchildren Andrea (Nathan) Harris, Kaitlin and Hannah Arwood; great-grandchildren Amber and Lauren Harris; sisters Susan (Richard) Over and Linda Palombi.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years and brothers-in-law Roger and Gary Wachtel.
