Russell Vicars

October 26, 1926 — November 24, 2016

Russell "Russ" Vicars, 90, of Wooster, died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Wayne County Care Center after having Alzheimer's for many years.
Private services with military rites will be held at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at 408 9th Street Southwest, Canton, OH 44707. Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
Russ was born October 26, 1926 in Manford, Oklahoma to Blaine and Nannie {Hundly} Vicars.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
Russ married Patricia Schweyer on April 30, 1948. She survives.
He retired from the East Ohio Gas Co. after 35 years. Russ also worked part time for the Dale Smetzer Mobil Gas Station. He was a member of the Shreve United Methodist Church and Shreve Lions Club. Russ enjoyed bowling and playing euchre. He was a kind and gentle man, a perfect, loving husband and will be greatly missed.
Russ will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years; daughters Connie (Larry) Burns of Wooster and Cathy (Jack) Henley of Shreve; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Ronald (Pat) Vicars of Orrville.
Russell was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Carol Featheringham, brother Jim Vicars, and sister Pat Manson.
The family would like to thank LifeCare Hospice and the Wayne County Care Center for all they've done for Russ and their family.
