Ruth Cripe

Ruth Elizabeth Cripe, 102, of Ashland, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Brethren Care Nursing Home.
Ruth was born October 7, 1912 in Nankin, Ohio to Pearley Jeriah and Bertha Mabel {Humphrey} Johnson. She was the second oldest of nine children.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Loyal A. Cripe in 1965.
Ruth worked as an obstetrical registered nurse at Samaritan Hospital and Winter Park Memorial Hospital in Florida. She retired in 1978 and later moved back to Ashland to live with her brother Wayne. Ruth was a graduate of Ashland High school class of 1930. In 1939 she graduated from the Huron Road School of nursing in Cleveland, Ohio and was a lifetime alumni member. She was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren and a former Sunshine Lady. While living in Florida she attended Downey Memorial Church in Orlando.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her sister Martha I. Stine of Ashland and many nieces and nephews who dearly loved 'Aunt Ruthie'
In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary L. Schwartz and Olive L. Baughman, brothers John W. Johnson, Merle L. Johnson, Paul E. Johnson, Carl A. Johnson and Wayne H. Johnson, sister in-laws Pauline Johnson, Clarice Johnson, Elsie Mae Johnson and Phyllis Johnson and brother in-laws Carl Schwartz, Carl Baughman and Harold Stine.
Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Schaefer officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, 960 Township Rd 964, Ashland, OH 44805.
