Sandra Sue Smith, 79, of Marietta, passed away peacefully at home and obtained her dignity wings back from dementia surrounded by family on October 27, 2024. She was born on January 6, 1945, in Marietta to Walter & Lena Mae Ross Babb.

Sandra enjoyed going to Nascar races and watching their UMP Modified race car run at several local race tracks with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling, boating, and working in her flower beds at her home. She and her husband spent the winters in Kississmmee, FL where she met some of her forever special friends. She enjoyed walking the downtown Marietta streets and bike path with her long-time friend Lynn Harris.

Sandra graduated from Marietta High School and married her sweetheart Ronny Lee Smith. Sandra was employed by Wetz Transportation, held various government jobs in Washington County and retired from Public Debt in Parkersburg, WV.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Ronny of 62 years of marriage and a son, Mark Smith (Tracey), a daughter, Peggy Bailey (Brian), grandson’s Derek Bailey (Rena) and Brandyn Bailey (Kalleigh) all of Marietta, OH, granddaughter Brittni Lindamood (Wilbert) and 3 great grandchildren, Gunther, Dietrich & Audrey of Epping, ND, a sister, Beverly Dilworth of Canton, OH, a brother, Jim Babb of Albuquerque, NM, along with several nieces and a nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Babb, sister(s), Wilma “Jo” Collins and Mary Carolyn Chancellor, brother in law(s), Grey Dilworth and Giles Nelson Chancellor, sister in law, Mary Babb, nephew Doyle Chancellor, and mother in law Elise Smith.

A very special thank you to Amedisys Hospice of Marietta, along with Aid Jessica and Nurse(s) Emily & Cody for their kindness, care and support.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 30th from 1 to 3 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta, OH 45750, followed by a private graveside service at East Lawn Memorial Park.
