Shirley Shifferly

Shirley Jean Shifferly, 83, of Wooster, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Wooster Community Hospital.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 27 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.  Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.  Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.   Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.

Shirley was born August 12, 1935 in Wooster to George and Eva {Raudebaugh} Groop.

She graduated with her Master’s of Education from Kent State University in 1966.

She married Elick Leroy Shifferly. He passed away in 1980.

Shirley was a learning disabilities teacher. She was a member and the pianist at Church of the Cross, in Wooster. Shirley loved to go dancing and play church bells. She was involved with Scouting and loved her family, as she and Elick were foster parents for 25 kids over the years.

She will be deeply missed by her children Anne Shifferly, Brian Shifferly, Craig (Debbie) Shifferly, and Drew Shifferly; step-grandchildren Mark (Lesley) Mayfield, Brittnay Herlugson, and Kaitlyn Hagler; step-great-grandchildren Maya, Fionna and Alexandria Mayfield; brothers Gary (Liz) Groop and Richard (Kim) Groop; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Roger Groop, and a nephew.
