Spurgeon Casto

Spurgeon C. Casto, 83, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Wooster Community Hospital.

Private services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Pastor Weese Day officiating. Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Spurgeon was born March 30, 1938, in Buckhannon, West Virginia to Wilbert and Nora Mae {Casto} Tenney.

He married Mabel L. Miller on August 22, 1959. She survives.

Spurgeon worked for IFCO for many years and retired from Gilbert Lumber. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing corn hole, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Spurgeon will be deeply missed by his wife, Mabel of 62 years; children James L (Donna) Casto of Orrville, Randall R. (Dorothy) Casto of Apple Creek, Brenda K Kelley of Mansfield, and Melissa A. (Alan) Force of Tucson, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings Virginia (Curtis) Howes, Shirley (Phillip) Reger and Cindy (Charles) Debarr all of WV, Robert (Linda) Tenney of Apple Creek, and Tom (Kathy) Tenney of NC.

Spurgeon was preceded in death by a grandson Dillon Casto and brothers James and Charles Tenney.
