Stachie Messenger

November 15, 1919 — January 16, 2017

Stachie Messenger, 97, of Smithville, died Monday, January 16, 2017 at her home.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Rickey officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691.
Stachie was born November 15, 1919 in Sand Fork, West Virginia to John and Nellie {Burkhammer} Marks.
She married Clarence Messenger on November 17, 1940. He died November 27, 2010
She retired from Freedlander's after several years of service. She attended Good News Baptist Church in Smithville. Stachie was a lifetime member of the Orrville VFW. She loved sewing, baking, traveling, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Stachie will be deeply missed by her daughter Carol Fickle of Smithville; grandchildren Annette (Troy), Mark (Chris), Todd, Jwana (Brett); great-grandchildren Brittany, Aubry, Emily, Cody, Damian, Angel and Brady; brother Steven Marks of Moreland; sisters Barbara (Burl) Greathouse of Orrville and Ethel McDonald of Reno, NV.
Stachie was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Vickie Blair and son-in-law Sam Fickle.
