Stafan (Steve) T. Karnof, 87, of Wooster, died Wednesday at West View Healthy Living.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10 to 11a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Steve was born December 23, 1924 in Clair City, South Dakota to Joseph and Jessie {Flaws} Karnof.
He graduated from Veblen High School, Veblen South Dakota in 1942, enjoying activities in band and chorus. He served in the Army from January 1944 to May of 1946 in the Anti-Tank Company 381 (Infantry).
He married Nellie Miedema on December 22, 1950, she survives.
He enjoyed a variety of jobs including; Surveyor for Bureau of Reclamation, Power House worker at the Fort Randal Dam on the Missouri river, Boy Scouts of America Executive, a custodian at Wooster Grace Brethren Church and delivering Meals on Wheels. He attended Wooster Grace Brethren Church, enjoyed the Ohio Orchestra, loved watching College of Wooster (Scots) athletics, liked eating out, traveling and socializing with the many people that he knew.
Steve will be deeply missed by children-Lois Karnof of Manchester, IN, Joe (Sheri) Karnof of Manchester, IN, Jean (Gerald) McVay of Chalmers, IN, Gerald Karnof of Manchester, IN; grandchildren- Terry (Leslie) Karnof of Indianapolis, IN, Luke McVay of Lafayette, IN, and Rachel (Andrew) Davis of Carmel, IN.; great-grandchildren-5.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
