Stanley L. Byler, 86, of Wooster, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Autumnwood Nursing Home, in Rittman.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 am at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Revs. Bruce Balentine and James E. Watt officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held. Stan was born November 11, 1926 in Wooster to Orie and Mary {Stayrook} Byler.
He served in the US Air Force during WWII and in the US Army during the Korean War.
He married Iva Mohler on September 10, 1951. She survives.
Stan worked for Timken in Wooster for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wooster. He was a member of the Killbuck VFW and an honorary member of the Holmesville American Legion. Stan loved cooking, fishing, hunting, and camping.
Stanley will be deeply missed by his wife Iva; children Charles Byler of Wooster, and Stephen (Cindy) Byler of Holmesville; grandchildren Tricia Byler, Stephanie (Matt) Steiner, Jasmine Byler, and Nathan Byler; great-grandchildren Christian, Aubrey, Brayden, Landen, Biranda, Logan, and Zaylee; sister Shirley Daugherty of Wooster.
Stanley was preceded in death by his brother Rufus Byler.
