Stefanie Jo Kauffman, age 51, of Homer, Ohio, made her grand exit to the great beyond on Sunday evening, December 8, 2024. She slipped away peacefully in the arms of her sister and mama.
Her health struggle with kidney failure for numerous years simply became impossible to overcome. Being the willful soul that she has always been, she decided to depart in true Stefanie fashion. She celebrated the last eight days of her life with fervent joy, dancing and excitement. She showed us with her grace, beauty and bravery just how strong she was and how much love she had to share. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, with her zest for life, her passion for gardening, and her artistic talents. The zany side of her was always able to take us aback, but then we often found ourselves joining in with her antics!
The last few years of her life have been devoted to converting an historic church into her dream home. Talk about the ultimate canvas for her artistic vision! She had a passion for seeing beauty in those things that most of us ignored. She was sweet, but oh so sassy, and took that all the way to the other side. To be so loved and so admired for her talents, beauty and bravery must have felt amazing to her, because that’s what she kept repeating the entire last week of her life. “I’m so lucky!” But if you knew and loved her, you were the lucky one.
Stef has left behind her bereaved parents and siblings: Tom and Ruth Kauffman, Melody and David Sindel, Kelly (Jeff) Dixon, Todd (Tracy) Kauffman and Drew Burgess. She was preceded in death by her brother Adam in 1975. Never have her nephew and nieces, along with her newest 3 great-nephews been loved as fiercely as Stefanie loved them.
Friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate her life on Saturday, December 14 at 12pm at Landoll’s Mohican Castle, Marta Louise Event Center, 561 Township Road 3352, Loudonville, Ohio 44842. In lieu of flowers, Steffie would be overjoyed if you made a donation in her honor, to the Holmes County Humane Society, where she adopted her beloved dog, Otis.
