Stewart G. Griffin, 77, of Ashland, died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at MedCentral Hospital, in Mansfield, from complications after a massive heart attack.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home – Ashland Chapel. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ashland Cemetery, where military rites will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association at P.O. Stewart was born January 1, 1937 in Onaway, Michigan to John Leroy Griffin and Madge {Thompson} Beard.
Stewart served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He married Patricia Mae {Olney} on August 18, 1958. She passed on June 4, 1998.
Stewart worked for United Telephone Company for 18 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and taking long walks in his spare time. Stewart loved to spend time with his family and most of all, his grandchildren.
Stewart will be deeply missed by children Jeanie (Jon) Ruckman of Savannah, John (Cheryl) Griffin of Ashland, Jerry (Shari) Griffin of Ashland and Jeff (Melissa) Griffin of Polk; grandchildren Andriea (Grant) Loeber of Ashland, Matthew and Jeremy Hale of Mansfield, Jennifer (Logan) Minnich of Ashland, Zachary Griffin of Mansfield, Nicole (Jon) Suter of Bailey Lakes, Taylor Ruckman of Savannah and Gregory Griffin of Perrysville; 6 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Gary Griffin and sisters Terri Schichtel, Cindy Griffin-Kitzmiller, and Jane McGraw.
Stewart was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, of 40 years, eldest daughter Joan Hale and brother Ross Griffin.
