Susan Hoag, 72, of Ashland, died Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Royal Oaks Care Center, in Middleburg Heights.
Susan was born April 12, 1951 in Fayette County, West Virginia to Marion and Ada {Mae} Ross.
She married David Hoag on June 9, 1979. He died on September 14, 2012.
Susan was a cook at the Ashland county children’s home for many years. She also managed Portage Lakes Kiwanis Towers with David before retiring in 2007. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Horseshoe, West Virginia. She was well known for cooking fabulous meals for the children’s home, loved gardening, and being with her family.
Susan will be deeply missed by her children Melissa (David) Lewis of Berea, Robert (Tonya) Toney of Crestview, FL, David (Melanie) Toney of Ashland; grandchildren Joshua, Justin, Jessica, and Alyssa Cooke, Maylan, Chelsey, Allyson, Heidi, and Anthony Toney, Jared Carder, and Christopher Fenwick; 32 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Drema Ross of Ashland and Mae Ross of Ansted, West Virginia, as well as several nieces and nephews. Specially mentioned Jeff Cooke, she saw him like a son.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Maxine Taylor, Ruth Gill, brothers Junior, Dallas, Darrel, Bobby Ross, close niece Sharon Taylor, and great grandson Cole Carder.
Graveside services will be Friday, December 29 at 1 p.m. at Ashland County Memorial Park (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Susan-Hoag).
