Sylvia Ann Wheeler, 69, of Smithville, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012, in her home after a lengthy battle with leukemia.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, 7067 Cleveland Road, Wooster. Sylvia was born April 20, 1943, in Massillon, OH, to Carl Sr. and Lillian {Kriner} Gerig. She graduated from Smithville High School in 1961.
On March 26, 1960, she married Terry L. Wheeler, who died in 1997.
Sylvia worked for the Wooster Brush Company for over 35 years, and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville. She enjoyed reading, gardening, hiking and sports, cheering at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, as well as at Buckeye football games.
Sylvia will be deeply missed by her sons Terrence T. (Rolando Martinez) Wheeler of Columbus, and Tracy A. (Kim) Wheeler of Cleveland Heights; grandchildren Terry Pitak, Max Arun, and Summer Isabel; brothers Carl (Helen) Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL, and Mike (Judy) Gerig of Wooster; sisters Sharon Carr of Fredericksburg, Harriet (Bill) Smith of Lodi, Chris (Randy) Hudson of Canal Fulton, and Annie (Bill Styer) Gerig of Wooster.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Terry and her parents.
