Tanya Smith

Tanya Lynn Smith, our Angel, went to be with Jesus, and her parents, on  Monday, March 11, 2019 at 78 years young.

Tanya Lynn was born March 21, 1940 in Nelsonville, Ohio to Clyde and Thelma {Matheny} McMannis. She raised her family there before moving to Mount Vernon in the 1970’s.

Tanya Lynn graduated from Nelsonville High School in 1957.  She was a drum majorette, and played the french horn.

She married John W. Wood in June of 1957, and Dennis Smith in May of 1977.

Tanya Lynn spent most of her working days in the healthcare field. Her last job was as a Therapeutic Programs Worker at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She was a firm believer in her Lord, Jesus Christ.  She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles #760.  She was a lifetime member of the Knox County Bootstuffers C.B. Club. Tanya loved Ohio State Football, WWE Wrestling (especially John Cena), and pinching men’s tushies.

Tanya Lynn will be deeply missed by her children Teresa (Rick Martin) Kyle, Timothy Lee Mundy Sr., and Brenda Frye; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Tanya Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Tricia Lynn, daughter (in law) Mary Mundy, and her constant companions cat Tippy and dog Clifford.

A Life Celebration will be held from 2-6 p.m., with a service at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at Central Christian Church 17833 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Wear your Ohio State gear, and bring a dish if you’d like. A benefit event will be held at 5 p.m. on March 16 ^th at the Eagles #760, 14 West Vine Street Mount Vernon, Ohio, with all proceeds going toward her final expenses.
