Thelma D. Lee, 89, of Smithville, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Tuesday at 11am at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Revs. Dr. David Oliver and Josh Arrington officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Holly River State Park c/o West Virginia State Parks Foundation, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. East, Building 3, Room 712, Charleston, WV 25305.
Thelma was born February 19, 1925 in Pickens, West Virginia to Jacob and Anna {Heller} Klee.
She eloped to marry Charles Lee on June 20, 1952 in San Francisco, CA.
Thelma was a homemaker and a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she was active in many ministries. She was a volunteer for the Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary Board for over 30 years. Thelma loved to sew, garden, read, play cards, work puzzles, and bake. Her peach pies were legendary.
Thelma will be deeply missed by her husband of 61 years, Charles; children Nancy (Jeffrey) Kauffman of Wooster and Kathy (Hugo) Sandberg of Hudson; grandchildren Jennifer (Ryan) Kline, Melissa (Ben) Rehm, Isaac, Abby and Ellie Kauffman, Anna, Aaron, and Molly Sandberg; a great-granddaughter Lena Kline and a great-grandchild due in November.
Thelma was the youngest of eight siblings, all of whom have died previously: Emil Klee, Karl Klee, William Klee, Lena Malcomb, Rosa Eye, Ida Echard, and Elsie Burky.
