Thomas O. Maxon, 90, of Marietta, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his home.
Thomas was born October 15, 1925 in Watertown, Ohio to Robert and Julia {Matheny} Maxon.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. Thomas served on the San Jacinto and attended his yearly Navy reunions. He worked for B.F Goodrich, retiring in 1987. In addition, he spent his free time farming.
He married Ruth Smith on August 27, 1948.
He was an avid golfer, golfing almost daily until his passing. He was a history buff and a great story teller, and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Thomas will be deeply missed by his wife Ruth; children Dean (Linda) Maxon, Donald (Kathy) Maxon and Denise (Mike) Traxler of Worthington, OH; 11 grandchildren ; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Katherine Cordle of San Diego, CA
Thomas was preceded in death by his children Dennis Maxon, Dale Maxon, and Deborah Allphin.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Thibault officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park where military honors will be held.
