Thomas Irvin Polk, 76, of Whipple, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born January 3, 1940 in Akron, Ohio to Hubert and Elza {Mayberry} Polk. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1958.
He married Carolyn Louise Duff on May 16, 1959.
Tom was a truck driver for 40 years retiring in 2005. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed his Morning Coffee Club. He was a wonderful person who was always willing to open his garage and lend a helping hand.
Tom will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years Carolyn Polk; children Mark Polk, Lorrie Polk, Kari (Steven) Snyder, Michael Polk, Neil (Melissa) Polk, Deborah (Lawrence) Pettit and Angela (Scott) Kidder; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; mother-in-law Audrey J. Duff.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gordon Jackson Polk and Victor Beryl Polk; and his father-in-law John F. Duff.
Friends may call Saturday, September 3 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.
