Ty William Hurless Sr., 71, of Wooster, died Wednesday February 11, 2015 at Hospice of North Central Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Committal services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, where military rites will be held. A procession to the cemetery will be Friday at 9 a.m. beginning at Roberts Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at West Hill Baptist Church with Pastors Eric Fairhurst officiating. Ty was born February 8, 1944 in Canton, Ohio to Roger and Blanche {Regotti} Hurless.
He graduated from Kent State University with a bachelors degree in Psychology. Ty served on active duty in the United States Navy and retired from his military career as a staff sergeant in the United States Army Reserves, where he served in Desert Storm.
He married Carol {Caporali} Hurless on May 19, 1973.
Ty retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier. He was a member of the West Hill Baptist Church. Ty loved to golf, bowl and play piano. To stay active he enjoyed walking and swimming.
Ty will be deeply missed by his wife Carol of 41 years; children Ty William (Trish) Hurless Jr., Dr. Jeffrey Scott (Jennifer) Hurless, Lisa Marie (Dr. Thomas) Gennosa, Dr. Nathan Paul Hurless, Rachel Anne (Christopher) Musselman; grandchildren Sadie Rose, Brian, Jordan, Bryce, Delaney, Trevor, Adrien and Ella; mother Blanche of Arkansas; brother David (Karen) Hurless; sisters Karen Custer, Patricia (Dale) Whitman and Randi (Jim) McFarland.
Ty was preceded in death by his father Roger.
