Velma Hauger

Velma M. Hauger, 85, of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Kingston of Ashland. Velma was born January 21, 1934 in Pennsylvania to Clifford and Ruth Anderson.

She married Robert (Bob) Hauger on June 22, 1952. He died October 27, 2009. Velma was a housewife, a great cook, and baker. She taught Sunday School for many years at Bethel Baptist Church. She loved gardening with all types of food and beautiful flowers. She also loved couponing. She spent the summer canning and freezing food for her family for the winter months. With her time spent in Kingston Nursing Home (2005-2019) she enjoyed all activities, Bingo, Bowling, Movin’ & Groovin’, and Coffee Clutch.

Velma will be deeply missed by her children Debbie (Dean) Stowe of Magnolia Delaware, Becky (Steve) Downin of Boca Raton, Florida, Steve Hauger of 29 Palms California, Rick Hauger of Lucas Ohio, Rob (Becky) Hauger of Ashland, Ohio, Christy “Pumpkin” (Joe) Sinnott of Manassas, Virginia; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Ruth; and brothers, John, Clifford, and Earl Anderson.

Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Roberts Funeral home Ashland Chapel.  Services will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Gess officiating.  Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.
