Verda May

Verda M. May, 96, of Wooster, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Wayne County Care Center, in Wooster.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 25, from 10 am until the service at noon at Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster with Pastor Steve Kern officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Verda was born November 1, 1921 in Springville, Ohio to Owen and Mary {Calhoun} Morris.

She married Preston "Dutch" May on October 6, 1940.  He died in 2008.

Verda worked for Diamonite in Shreve for 8 years, but was primarily a homemaker raising her three children.  She was an active member of Grace Church as well as the Gideons Auxiliary.

Verda will be deeply missed by her children Irene (Jerry) Wolfe of Sarasota, FL, Carl (Sharon) May of Wadsworth, and Mary (Stanley) Haskins of Bonita Springs, FL; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6  great great grandchildren; brother William (Lucille) Morris of Wooster; and sister Carolyn Bender of Wooster.

Verda was preceded in death by her husband Preston, sisters Verna Morris and Grace Raubenolt; son-in-law Glenn Starkey Jr. and grandson Shane Starkey.
