Virgil "Cricket" Erb, 80, of Marietta, died September 17, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 27, 1937 in Marietta to Virgil Erb and Margaret Best Hasley.
Virgil was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He married Anna Becker on August 9, 1964.
Virgil worked for and retired from DuPont after 30 years. He loved golf and his grand babies.
Virgil will be deeply missed by his wife Anna; children Debora (Bill) Jones, Jeffrey Martin (Sandy Simmons), Tina Johnson and Sandy (Bob) Hausman ; grandchildren Mandy (Ryan) Beebe, Tricia Martin, Ashlee Martin, Amy Johnson (Conner DiFalco), Zack Phelps (Ali Wells), Ryan Martin and Matthew Jones; great-grandchildren Anastasia Beebe (Koby Taylor), Tia VanDale, Dimitri Beaver, Branzon Phelps and Pazleigh Hardie; brother Richard (Kate) Wagner; sisters Mary Brown, Dolly Rutherford and Alvena Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Jeremy Johns and his infant brother David Erb.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Zacharias and Dr. Mahyar Tahbaz, as well as the nurses and techs at Marietta Memorial Hospital and Heartland of Marietta for the special care they provided.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 19th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at Microtel Inn & Suites, 506 Pike St. Marietta, 45750. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
