Walter Knepp

On January 28, 2022, Walter Eugene Knepp, loving husband and selfless father of five went to be with the Lord at the age of 84.  Wally was born January 7, 1938, in Lodi to Wallace and Lola {Talley} Knepp and settled down with his family in Dalton, Ohio. He was enlisted in the Marines after graduation from Norwayne High School.  A Quilt of Valor Service was recently held in his honor.  He worked at Mark’s Tractor and Beaver excavating as a welder. He also taught welding at RG Drage, passing on his gift to many.  He was a member of St. Michael’s United Church of Christ in Marshallville.

Wally was happiest with a Louis L’Amour novel and the Eagles playing in the background.  Few things gave him as much joy as telling a story showing off his quick wit and humor, a gift he passed on to his children.   Walter will be greatly missed but will be remembered for his love of God, his work ethic and a smile that made you feel loved.

Wally is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years, Lela {King}, their five children, Jeff (Stephanie) Knepp of McConnelsville, Cliff Knepp of Shreve, James (Debbie) Knepp of Alliance, Vicki (Tom) Cisar and Rebecca (Andy) Byall all of North Lawrence, and they were blessed with 10 grandchildren.

Wally was preceded in death by a sister Jeanie Corn.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.  Services will be Tuesday at the 3pm with Pastor Joe Routh officiating.  Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, where military rites will be held.   Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.   Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Aultman Canton, 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708 or St. Michael’s UCC, 22 Euclid St., Marshallville, OH 44645.
