Wayne was born November 17, 1929 in Reedsburg, Ohio to Parke J. and Dorothy E. {Smith} Rush.
He graduated from Jeromesville High School and lived in Ashland County most of his life. He married Alice J. Jewell in July 1954, she preceded him in death in 1998.
Wayne served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was Honorably discharged in 1952. He was a mechanic, a welder, a farmer and a salesman, a jack-of-all-trades and a master of all. He also owned a laundromat and rental properties in Ashland for several years. He taught his children in word and deed to live honorably in honesty and integrity.
When he wasn't working he was tinkering or drafting plans to build his next project. In his spare time he enjoyed entertaining his family by playing the piano, accordion or harmonica – though he never learned to read music.
Wayne and Alice enjoyed camping and for many years spent weekends in their camper along with family and friends. After retirement from Landoll Inc., Wayne moved to a warmer climate in Eutawville, SC where he spent the remainder of his years in retirement.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his children, Wendy E. (Scott) Taylor, of West Salem, Carl Jewell of Wooster, Dolores Meeks of Columbus, Jan Jewell of Mansfield; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Sevia Bowers.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas W. Rush in 2008; and brother, John Rush.
