Wilbur Leo Williams

Wilbur “Willie” Leo Williams, 92, of Marietta, passed away June 27, 2023 at Waterview Point in Marietta, OH.   Willie was born December 5, 1930 in Bedford Ohio, a son of Stephen Leo Williams and Theora Mae (Law) Williams. 

Willie was a 1948 graduate of Marietta High School.  He started his 44 year employment at Vanguard Paints in Marietta the day after graduation. He led his family in faith as an active member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Reno Ohio.  He was instrumental in the building of the educational building, which now serves as the daycare. 

Willie stayed active being a member of American Legion 64 and participated in the legion bowling and golf league for many years.  He was a great bowler and loved to golf, fish and hunt.  He also coached little league baseball.  Willie loved to be outside and was known for working on his lawn, gardening and feeding the birds.  He was die hard Reds fan attending many games over the years and regularly watched The Ohio State basketball team on tv.

Willie proudly served in the US Army from 1951-1953 stationed in Okinawa Japan.

Willie is survived by the love of his life life Janet Marie (Dobbins) Williams whom he was married to for 72 years, along with his son Randy (Julie) Williams of Marietta; Grandson Aaron (Loren) Williams of Strasburg, Ohio; Granddaughter Janelle (Andrew) Digby of Avon, Ohio; One Great Grandson, Hudson Williams of Strasburg, Ohio.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents and son Jeffrey Scott Williams.

Willie has struggled with both sight and hearing for many years but we truly believe that he is now enjoying all of the beautiful sights and sounds surrounding him in his heavenly home.  The family would like to thank the healthcare workers at Waterview Point for their compassionate care the past month.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 29 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta, OH 45750. Funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Mark Zimmer officiating. Burial at East Lawn Memorial Park, where military rites will be observed.
