Wilford "Punkin" Howell, 71, of Ashland, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at MedCentral Hospital, in Mansfield from a battle with lung cancer.
Wilford was born August 20, 1943 in Sardis, Ohio to William and Nellie {Eikleberry} Howell.
He married Rosetta "Rose" {Phillips} on August 23, 1969.
Mr. Howell lived in Ashland most of his life. He worked for various tree companies and he also worked for Philway Products for 39 years, before retiring in 2006. Wilford was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland.
Wilford will be deeply missed by his wife, Rose, of 45 years; children Becky Howell and Robert Howell; grandchildren Zach Workman and Amber Howell; sisters Patsy (Floyd) Winland of Graysville, Kathryn Ruble of Rootstown, Donna (Russell) Nalley of Graysville, Ila "Tootie" (Roy) Winland of Ashland, Lena (Ken) Piatt of Woodsfield, Connie Gardner of Lewisville, Sharon Workman and Pauline (Larry) Baker both of Woodsfield; brothers David Howell of Sardis and Ronald "Bub" (Judy) Howell of Lewisville; brother-in-law Donald Winland of Sycamore Valley; several nieces and nephews.
Wilford was preceded in death by his parents, sister Debbie, brother John and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home - Ashland Chapel, Ashland with Pastor Butch White officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Cancer Society at 380 E. 4th St., Ashland, OH 44805 or First Baptist Church at 1233 U.S. 42, Ashland, OH 44805.
