William Leroy Chenevey

William “Bill” Leroy Chenevey, 87, of Smithville, died Saturday February 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

William was born October 18, 1937 in Wooster, OH to Vernon and Virginia {Franks} Chenevey.

He married Sue Hickman on May 26, 1958. The love of his life for the past 67 years, she survives. 

Bill retired from Freeman construction after 50 years and was very appreciative of the Freeman family. He enjoyed playing racket ball, bowling, playing euchre, walking, and mushroom hunting. Bill also enjoyed driving both his 1930 Model A and 1987 El Camino.

Bill will be deeply missed by his wife Sue; children Steve William (Deceased) (Becky) Chenevey, Craig (Laurie) Chenevey, and Lisa Hansen; grandchildren Alissa, Jarrod Willam, Joseph, and Thomas; great-grandchildren William Steve, Kaylee, Josie, Landon, and Olivia; brothers Les (Cathy) Chenevey, Randy (Nancy) Chenevey, Charlie Chenevey, Ed (Sheila Deceased) Chenevey, and Fred (Rita) Chenevey; sisters Janet (John) Duffy, and Sue (Damon) Miller; sister-in-law Shirley Buss; and extended family, friends, nieces, nephews, and neighbors.

William was preceded in death by his parents, son Steve William Chenevey, great-grandson James, and son-in-law Larry Hansen.

Family will receive friends and family on Wednesday February 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Private family burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
