William “Bill” Russel Goddard, 91, of Ashland, died Friday February 16, 2018 at The Good Shepherd, in Ashland.
Bill was born October 3, 1926 in Powhatan Point, Ohio to William Guy and Eula Pearl {Albus} Goddard.
He completed the 10th grade in Powhatan Point. He then lied about his age to join the United States Navy, where he served in World War II.
He married Mary Ann Gubernot on February 15, 1964.
Bill had many jobs, before retiring from National Latex in Ashland. Bill was active in the VFW, and loved to camp. He also loved watching sports on television, and had a passion for the Browns, the Indians and the Buckeyes.
Bill will be deeply missed by his wife Mary Goddard of Ashland; children Greg (Pearl) Goddard of Blaine, Ron (Diana) Goddard of Marietta, and Lisa (Tim) Babcock of New London; grandchildren Michelle Hadzima, William Goddard, Chad Goddard, Marie Carsey, and Mary Babcock; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Goddard; grandson Scott Goddard; brother Harold Albus; sister Dolly Van Dyne; and niece Jeanie Scott.
Friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel in Ashland. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 at the funeral home with Julie Thoms officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made atwww.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
