William Lloyd Wince, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his home in Marietta. He was born July 15, 1938 in Pomeroy, Ohio, son of the late David Wince and Virginia Wince Irwin.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a towboat captain for over 40 years on the Upper & Lower Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. He was a member of Wagner Union Church, Harmar Lodge 390 F&AM, Washington County Shrine Club, Alladdin Shrine, Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite and Washington County Scottish Rite and York Rite of Marietta. Bill enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, the Dallas Cowboys, and listening to country music.
Surviving is his wife Judy {nee Bruffey}of 42 years; sons Billy (Patty) Wince of Columbus, OH and Ernie (Lelania) of Ashville, NC; daughter Lisa (Fred) Smith of Harrison, OH; stepdaughter whom he raised Jodi Murthy (Srini Murthy) of Charleston, WV and several grandchildren. He is also survived by half brothers David Wince of Baltimore, MD, Bob (Jackie) Irwin of Huntington, IN; half sister Aggie Wince (Bill) Brown of Orlando, FL,; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his only brother Kenneth Wince and half sisters Roberta Wince Radziwon and Ginny Irwin Mastin.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 26 at 1 PM at Roberts Funeral Home – East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta with Pastor Gene Ferrell and Rev. Dianne Steelman officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com.
