Willis "Willie" Robert Evans, 87, of Marietta, passed away peacefully Friday, August 5, 2016 at his home.
Willie was born May 22, 1929 in Marietta to Harold and Freda {Colville} Evans.
He graduated from Marietta High School and had his Stationary Engineer Degree from Marietta College.
He married Eleanor Jean Hendershot on December 27, 1947.
Willie worked for Marietta City Schools for 15 years and retired from Shell Chemical after 27 years in 1988. He was a Deacon at the Trinity Methodist Church. Willie was a 50 year 32nd degree member of the Harmar Lodge #390 Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Marietta Boat Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.
Willis will be deeply missed by his wife Jean; daughters Donna (Larry) Buchanan of Lower Salem, and Teresa (Erick) Biehl of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren Jason (Sabrina) Buchanan of Lower Salem, Rachel Biehl of Newport News, VA, Melissa (Chris Manno) Biehl of Norfolk, VA, Amanda (Kevin) Pettit-Pokora of Allen Park, MI; great-grandchildren Kyndayl, KyLynn, Xavier, Aidan, Violet, Jackson and Marie; brother Jim Evans; sister Joanne Miller; and his nephew Don (Ann) Rose.
Willis was preceded in death by his siblings Virginia Evans, Wanda Skidmore, Jack Evans, Jeanette Nicholson and Freddie Davis.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11 AM at Roberts Funeral Home – East Lawn Chapel, 27880 SR 7, Marietta 45750 with Pastor Lou Verdi officiating.
