Barbara Grifo

Barbara J. Grifo, 77, of Wooster, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at her residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wooster, with Father Dan Reed officiating. Inurnment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. There will be no calling hours. Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is handling the arrangements.

Barbara was born August 13, 1931 in Danville, Illinois to Mark Leonard and Grace (Amos) Smith. She met Anthony Patrick Grifo, Jr. in Danville, Illinois while he was in the Air Force and on April 24, 1954, they were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Danville, Illinois. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was an avid reader. She learned to swim at the age of 68.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her husband Tony and children Mark (Jenna) Grifo of Severna Park, Maryland, Jean (Donald) Williams of St. Charles, Illinois, James (Nancy) Grifo of Wooster, Tony (Rachel) Grifo, III of Brunswick and Mary Grifo of Lynchburg, Virginia, 13 grandchildren, a brother, John Smith, of Danville, Illinois and a special Niece Vanda Lee Phelps. She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.
