Carl Vargo, 91, of Wadsworth, died Tuesday, December 12 at Hospice of Medina. Services will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Wadsworth. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 at the funeral home. Online tributes may be made at www.robertsfuneralhome.com. He was born May 7, 1915 to Josef and Theresa Vargo. He married Ida Bell Dull on September 30, 1939. She preceded him in death in 2001. He graduated from Copley High School in 1934, and served in the US Army in the 3541st Ordinance Main Company during WWII. He worked for Frederick Dairy in Akron, Freed Ford in Rittman and Service Wrecking Auto Yard and retired from Formrite Tube in Medina at 72 years of age. Carl was a member of the Oddfellows Mound Lodge #845 and Riverdale Rebekah Lodge #596 both of Lodi. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by son Robert J. (Sandra) Vargo of Vancouver, WA, daughters Vicki B. Norris of Wooster, Kristen D. (Gary) Robinson of Wadsworth, grandchildren Kevin Rogers, Ryan (Linda) Rogers, Beth (Ed) Baker, Bobbi (Randy) Lee, John Rogers, Cheryl (Steve) Tannehill, Jennifer (Michael) Conover, Emily Vargo, Megan Vargo, 12 great grandchildren, sister in law Darlene (David) Haker of Wadsworth and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Ida, brothers James Butler and Robert Johnson and a sister Anne Eicher preceded him in death.
